2019 – That’s a wrap!

I don’t know what to say about 2019… I suppose it’s a mixed bag.

One hand, we bought a new house and are currently finishing moving into it. On the other hand, I spent the majority of the year dealing with Post Concussive Syndrome – which was a royal bitch to get over. (Long story, and long over due for a post. But it was shooting related. I’ll write something up in 2020 for it.)

Anyways, New House:

80559913_10104633451962218_5774023444261765120_o

It’s pretty nice, comes complete with a finished underground bunker… I mean.. basement. (For keeping all my shooting gear!) My goals for next year? Finish moving in. Sell our old house. Buy a Barrett .50 cal and a helicopter with the proceeds.

On the writing front, which is why this blog exists – for my expected future fame and fortune, pretty good. Even with brain damage I managed to finish a book, get several publishing offers, AND write 80,000 words into the sequel(Goal is 110,000). I’m a bit bummed that I didn’t finish the sequel by the end of this year, that was a big goal of mine. But, I had BRAIN DAMAGE. I think I’ve accomplished a lot all things considered. My goals for next year? Publish the first, finish and publish the second, and hopefully finish the third.

That’s a lot of writing, but I REALLY want to write a follow up trilogy based in the 1920’s. You know, the good old days, when Thompson Machine Guns could be ordered in the mail.

On the shooting front for 2020, goals include getting a new safe. Mine is full. Also, it’s been years since I’ve shot competitively, and I miss the camaraderie of beating other people. I think I’d like to try and get back into that and shoot a few matches. It used to be a lot of fun when my dad would come out and compete also, but alas, his semi-retired job now has him working almost every single Saturday. So, I dunno about that. But I’d love to shoot more next year. Also I just renewed my Concealed Carry Permit for the third time. Over ten years now, never needed it. That’s pretty good. Hope I never do. I’ve enough gray hairs coming in as it is from my kids. But I feel like my skills have taken a severe blemishing over the past few years, and I’d like to shine them a bit. Competition is great for that and just plain old trigger time… more of it!

I also haven’t gotten to go to church much this year. With everything going on, and several strong sicknesses running rampant through my house, oh and our three year old not sleeping…grrr… Sunday mornings and church have been put on the back burner, and I miss that.

Nay, I need that.

But still – There’s one thing in particular that I’m grateful for this past year. With all the hardships and blessings, I’ve grown closer to God than I’ve ever been before. It’s wonderful. And I look forward to growing more in the new year.

Speaking of which, I wish you all great health and happiness and blessings in the new year. Thank you for reading my blog, keeping me on my toes with comments, and giving me likes when I post something worth reading. It’s ego-stroking and keeps me going. 🙂 And if you can’t tell, blogging doesn’t come naturally to me, a lot of the time I struggle to think of something worth writing about when I’d rather just be writing a story out.

But as I said earlier, future fame and prosperity demands that I have a blog as a new author. And I look forward to continuing on this adventure together into 2020.

Thank you all and God Bless.

If only our Mastiff would stop killing Communists.

This was in our dog’s insurance policy under ‘things not covered’.

Communists

So, no rebellion, revolution, invading, or civil war for our beast.

(Yes… I can just now see our slobbery, radioactive, counter-guerrilla English Mastiff defeating the enemy with slothfulness!)

Look how sad he is that he can’t smother our countries enemies with furry love.

Beastly

To bad, because my dogs favorite Bible Verse of WAR is Ephesians 6:12. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Walmart – So Stunning and BRAVE.

So, Walmart bans a bunch of ammunition types and stops selling handguns in Alaska.

Whomp-Whomp.

Such brave posturing.

Fun story – Guess what else Walmart sells that kills more people than guns?

  • Knives.
  • Auto Parts.
  • Pharmaceutical Drugs.
  • Candy and Sugary Foods.
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco

But yes, let’s stop selling certain types of ammunition. Even though something like 99.99999999999999% of the ammunition they’ve sold is peacefully and recreationally used. And Walmart is going to have a helluva time picking and choosing what ammo is allowed for ‘hunting’ rifles, since basically most popular hunting guns are based on military cartridges used in ‘assault rifles’.

(The 30-06 slayed Nazi’s. The 7.62 (.308) did the same for commies and the whimpy 5.56 (.223) is still trying to win this generational war against terror.)

Ultimately, this is just going to drive hunters and shooters to their local gun stores who could seriously use the economic boom from Walmart being stupid. If I owned a gun store, I’d be leaping in joy right now. Because ammunition moves a lot faster than guns (is that a pun?), thus you can make a decent amount of money off them. Plus, if a customer comes in for something small, you might be able to sell them something larger. A spare magazine, a sling, a holster, or maybe… a gun. $$$

So this is wonderful news for the small businesses and companies that actually give a flip about shooters and defending rights and Constitutions and peoples lives.

Screw Walmart. They’ve been moving in this direction ever since they stopped selling handguns when I was a kid in the lower 48, and more recently when they stopped selling the ‘most popular firearms platform of all time’… the AR15. I expect eventually they’ll turn into Target and not offer anything that goes boom.

Sadly I can’t avoid Walmart like I can the wretched Dick’s (Stop being dicks, Dick’s.) Also, I doubt that a boycott will have the same economic impact on their company that it had on Dicks. Walmart is simply massive, and sadly, I have to go there whether I like it or not.

But what I can do, is order ammunition in bulk online and go to the local gun store.

And for everyone hating on people open carrying… keep in mind that some states a person can buy a handgun at 18 but can’t conceal carry until 21. So for three years, if they want to carry – they HAVE to open carry.

Personally, I remember calling the police department when I was considering getting my concealed carry permit. I asked if there would be any problems if I opened carried and I was told I’d be arrested. When I asked why, since North Carolina is an open carry state, I was told because I was ‘armed to the terror of the public’ and all it took was one person dialing 911 for that charge to stick.

Is that bullshit? Yup. Is that fair? Nope. Is it worth spending a weekend in jail because some ditz got nervous about me open carrying while I eat? Nope.

So I went concealed and never looked back. Since then, I’d never choose to open carry. Because if I ever have to shoot someone, I don’t want them seeing it coming.

In other news, San Francisco declared the NRA a Terrorist Organization.

So I’m a terrorist now.

Neato. I’m going to add that to my LinkedIn resume now. ‘Domestic NRA Terrorist! Evil to the Nth Degree! Murderer of Innocents! Purveyor of death and destruction! Hatred Incarnate!’

That’s okay.

I’d rather be called a domestic terrorist by a bunch of leftists than actually be a Planned Parenthood supporter.

(And honestly, if San Francisco thinks I’m doing something wrong, I’m probably doing it right.)

Reason # Infinity to carry a gun – Crazy people. (Also – Don’t go Full Hero during a Mass Shooting.)

‘Carry at All Times’: Video of Random Woman Stabbing Boy in Front of Parents Shocks Gun Owners

First off – You need to watch this video.

Second off – The title is wrong, this should shock everyone, and if you love your family, you should be concealed carrying anyways.

Historically speaking, the world has always been full of vile, evil, crazy people willing to inflict pain and hurt on others. And just because we’ve got indoor plumbing doesn’t mean that thing’s ain’t changed none. There’s only a thin veneer of civility on top of society, and it could be argued that’s been weakened with the current state of vitrol amongst our politics, the pathetic shape of our mental health institutions, the lack of father figures in homes, and the influence of social media.

But if you are carrying a firearm, you could have done something other than flail about pathetically like the child’s father in the video.

You could have shot her during the confrontation or you could have tried to detain her afterwards.

Personally, I’m not above shooting her in the back as she’s walking away. If that gets me arrested, I’ll smile for my mug shot. But I’m not about to let someone walk away after stabbing my kids.

But I’ve always been the sort to figure, if they’re willing to do this to me and my kids, when will they stop?

Answer – when they’re incapacitated.

Now, comparing this to the mass shooting that just happened in Texas on how a concealed carry holder should act…

I read this recently at Survival Blog and found it to ring true.

The letter itself is in italics.

Some Counter-Mass Shooting Wisdom

SurvivalBlog’s Editor-At-Large Michael Z. Williamson chimed in with this letter that he received from a friend who is a former SADF trooper, in South Africa:

“Handguns are better than bare fists but that’s about it. Shooting it out with someone who is armed with a carbine sucks beyond belief. I speak for experience since, unlike a whole pile of the Internet blowhards, I’ve actually done it. As have numerous cops in other [bad places]. Ask any of them if a pistol would be their first choice if they had to do it again.

Having said that, the problem with long guns is how are you going to carry it? Go back to your vehicle and fetch it? Not going to work in reality. Carry it around in a bag or under a coat? Statistically it’s probably not worth the trouble.

As to the little Suarez gem about being seen as an accomplice if you are armed with a rifle (Obviously you should be armed with one of his red dot pistols because of wallet mining) that’s BS. The cops have been given a report of an active shooter. Anyone waving a weapon around be it a rifle, shotgun or a sidearm is going to be seen as a possible suspect and treated as such. Why? Because plenty of other weapons are used by active shooters.

A lot of police work is a game of imperfect information. Even if the report said man with a rifle, no cop in his right [expletive] mind is going to go “Oh look a guy with a pistol he must be a CCwer and I can safely ignore him, in-fact I can safely expect him to help”, to do so would be folly.

And as to the re-conceal bit. That may take timing you don’t have. I know the latest fantasy of the red dot “offensive pistol” crowd is that they will snipe the [bad guy] across the mall with their awesome skills. Maybe they will, but maybe they won’t. Bad guys don’t want to die either. If the shot is less than perfect, there are more than one shooters (remember you are also playing a game of imperfect info) or anything else aside from what you hope for you will attract fire and maybe get into a protracted firefight. At that point there is no more concealing after taking care of business.

In South Africa, during a cash in transit heist, an armed private citizen engaged the robbers with his pistol killing one. Problem was he engaged them from behind the cover of a car. Why is that a problem you ask? Because it was a car with one of them in it, assumedly a getaway vehicle. The occupant simply got out and blew the good Samaritan’s brains out. Remember it’s a game of imperfect info! A single private individual has even less of it that cops with radios and such.

Personally, I would not directly engage, unless I was in the perpetrator’s immediate vicinity or immediately threatened by an identifiable threat, some of those are better off eliminated proactively. Given the option, I would take my spouse and or family members, seek hard cover and the safety of a defensible position and wait for a decent opportunity. If the active shooter goes Mumbai style and comes looking for more targets that’s when you take the [hostile] out.

I realize that’s not being “sheepdogish” and such. But if you want to go full [hero] and charge on the sound of the guns, to die a good death then go for it. I guess someone else will look after your family and the people you saved families won’t be giving a [care] either. Life is hard, simple as that. Your immediate duty is to you and yours, [expletive] the rest. Of course its different if you are responsible for more people’s lives, for whatever reason, but most normal, family people are not.

As I’ve said before most people are not trained to clear a house, let’s not even talk about waging urban warfare in a [expletive] Shopping Mall.”

Stay safe friends. Practice shooting often and write diligently. 🙂

I just received my first FB Achievement medal!

By being tagged for ‘hate speech’…

20190809_0943375216787078785420146.jpg

Generally speaking, I don’t post about politics on FB much anymore. Or on this blog.

Honestly, it’s because I’m tired of the division and tired of Trump’s winning. I’m also tired of arguing with people who are frothing crazy and irrational and driven by hatred for Trump. Look, you can have your own beliefs, that’s fine. But as a human being, you owe it to yourselves to educate yourself, to challenge your beliefs, and correct them as you discover grow, learn, and discover facts and reasoning’s.

And I’m not saying, “Oooo, Republicans are always right and Democrats always wrong!”

Not true. Republicans suck also. As I mentioned in my last post, read the comments sometime in a Fox News article – it’s cringe worthy to read what ‘my’ people have on their minds. And there are plenty of wimpy Republicans who support gun control, abortion, high taxes, etc. Such as John McCain. He was terrible and I wrote about that when he died.

But the reason I posted that comment to FB is because every single Democrat at the Presidential debate with a podium denounced Trump as a racist every chance they got.

Which means all 63,000,000 voters who supported Trump are racist as well by default.

Correct?

Either we are racist and support his racism, or we are tens of millions of ignorant fools who unknowingly elected such an evil man, and you folks are the shining beacons of all that is good and just in the world here to enlighten us and offer trinkets and other free things…

Which is it? We’re stupid? Or racist white supremacists as well?

Either way, you want our votes.

So, I think my statement is pretty accurate.
